MosaicEarth Help, Workflows & Technical FAQs
Everything you need to know about 3D globe exploration, photogrammetry, 3D Gaussian Splatting, retention policies and licensing.
1. Supported Geospatial Formats & WebGL Streaming
MosaicEarth supports three primary asset families: Maps & Layers (fileTypeId=2) including GeoTIFF/COG, DSM/DTM, GeoPackage (.gpkg), GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, Shapefile (.zip), DXF and GPX; 3D Models (fileTypeId=3) including GLB/glTF 2.0, Textured Wavefront OBJ (.zip), OGC 3D Tiles and 3D Gaussian Splatting (.ply); and Point Clouds (fileTypeId=1) including LAS, LAZ, PLY, PCD, PTS and XYZ.
2. Photogrammetry (WebODM) & 3D Gaussian Splatting (12 Credits)
Photogrammetry projects can run on Managed Cloud WebODM or your own local WebODM instance via the MosaicEarth WebODM plugin. 3D Gaussian Splatting projects are separate dedicated projects costing 12 integer credits (30 to 200 photos), with automatic credit refunds if a job fails before generating a usable result.
3. Retention (15 Days Private) vs. Free Permanent Public Publishing
Unpublished private results are retained for 15 days unless covered by Project Premium storage. Publishing any asset to the public MosaicEarth 3D Globe is 100% free and preserves both its WebGL streaming derivative and downloadable source files permanently.
